Camcorders Connectivity
One of the best reasons to purchase a digital camcorder would be so that you can edit your home videos. You can send your tapes to a video editing company, or you can do it yourself.
In order to do it yourself you will have to make sure that your camcorder can connect to your computer. Make sure that your camcorder has a FireWire (IEEE1394) connection. This port can also be called i.Link and DV In/Out. Most camcorders come with this jack, which is the main connection for digital editing. You can also use a video capture card or device to import your video into your PC, but this option is a much slower process.
The FireWire link connects right to your computer, as long as you also have this connection on your computer. If you are not sure of what a FireWire port looks like, you can refer to the documentation that came with your computer to verify that you have this port available on your computer.
