Modem
Data and Fax Modem
A data and fax modem is used for faxing, calling people or other computers with your computer, a phone answering system, and dial-up internet access. There are a couple of different speeds available, with the fastest being 56kb. A data and fax modem can be an internal PCI or ISA card, an external device that can be plugged in to your computer, or a pcmcia card that could be used for a laptop. We recommend the Creative Labs Modem Blaster V.92 PCI.
Cable Modem
A cable modem is used for high speed internet access. We recommend the Linksys BEFCMU10 EtherFast Cable Modem.
DSL Modem
A DSL Modem is for DSL High Speed Internet Access. This type of modem can be an internal PCI Card style, or an external device that connects to your computer.
