Microsoft Windows Update

All Windows Operating Systems require regular updates in order to remain functional and secure from hackers and security vulnerabilities. Microsoft provides these files free of charge on a regular basis. The best way to be sure that you get all of the critical updates is to get them from windows update by clicking on the following link:

http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

Once you get to the site you must click on the "Scan for updates" button. Microsoft will automatically scan your system and gather a list of security patches and fixes that Microsoft recommends as "Critical Updates" to your version of their operating system. This process only takes a few moments. When it is finnished, you must click on the "Review and install updates" button. This will bring you to the screen where you can manually choose which updates to install and remove the ones that you choose you do not want to install. Some updates require that they be installed all by themselves, like Service Packs for example. In this case, you can install the Service Pack update, and then it is recommended that you reboot your system in order for the new updates to be fully installed, and restart the windows update process and continue to install the rest of the security patches and operating system upgrades.
