Build Your Own Custom Built Computer

Why A Custom Built Computer

There are many reasons to build your own custom built computer. One reason to build your own computer is that most of your computer hardware is automatically under warranty for three years when you buy it yourself. If you were to purchase a three year warranty for a one size fits all machine it can end up costing several hundred dollars.

Another reason to build your own computer is so that you have high quality parts. You get to pick exactly what goes into your computer, so you know that the parts are of high quality, and will not let you down. Sometimes the one size fits all computer makers throw in whatever they can get at a good price, so they can cut the cost of the computer so the price is more attractive. One thing to remember is that cutting costs is never a good idea on an item that is as important as a computer. Would you install a cheap stereo in your car to save thirty dollars, or would you rather spend the extra money and increase the wattage and quality of the sound going to your speakers? If your answer was to throw in a cheap stereo, then a one size fits all computer manufacturer is probably a better choice for you. You can shop for manufactured computers here.

Upgradeability is another reason to build a custom computer. If you are a person that has to have the fastest processor, or the latest video card, then a custom built computer is the best choice for you. You can usually upgrade a custom built computer easily. When you buy a good quality, high end motherboard, then it is usually capable of handling todays fastest processors, as well as tomorrow's new processors.

Building your own computer is also a fun learning experience. When you built the system, you know what is in the system. You know how you installed the parts, and the software, and the drivers. Building a system helps to enable you to troubleshoot and support that system. It also can break a fear that some people have about being able to hurt their system. Yes, computers can be "broken", but when you know how the inner workings work together, it can make you more confident in working with that system.

Bragging rights are a feel good reason to build your own system. It is a proud accomplishment when you start from scratch, and design and build your own system. Your friends will want you to build a system for them, when they see your custom built computer that you have custom built with all the fancy lighting effects, custom computer case, extremely fast processor, extremely quiet fans, etc...

What You Will Need

Below are the items that you will need to build your own system. If you have an old system that you are replacing, then you should be able to use some of the items from the old system and put it into the new system. You will have to make sure that your new motherboard will support the old hardware. More than likely if it is time to upgrade your system, your old system is a couple of years old, so that would mean that more than likely the memory and the processor are not able to be transferred to the new system.
